TNPSC Group 4 Preparation
TNPSC Group 4 is a single objective paper at SSLC standard, made up of 200 questions carrying 300 marks. It has three parts: a Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test of 100 questions, General Studies of 75 questions, and Aptitude and Mental Ability of 25 questions. Because half the paper is the Tamil section and the standard is school-level rather than graduate-level, Group 4 rewards accuracy and thorough basics far more than advanced reading. This customized path builds that accuracy around your current level instead of assuming you are starting from zero.
Estimated 3 - 6 months (Flexible based on study pace)
Beginner to Intermediate (SSLC standard, adaptive)
Why Choose a Customized Path?
Group 4 attracts a very wide range of candidates — recent school-leavers, graduates taking it as a first government-job attempt, and repeat attempters who missed by a narrow margin. A single fixed syllabus plan serves none of them well. This course starts from a diagnostic and shifts weight accordingly: a candidate strong in Tamil but weak in Aptitude gets a different weekly schedule from one who reads English-medium General Studies comfortably but is slow in the Tamil section. Because the paper is objective and at SSLC standard, the plan prioritises repeated timed practice and error review over volume of new material.
The Personalization Standard:
The plan begins with a diagnostic across the three parts and allocates study time in proportion to where marks are actually being lost. A candidate losing marks mainly in Aptitude gets short daily timed sets and worked-solution review; one losing them in the Tamil section gets grammar and comprehension drilling instead. General Studies is sequenced so that high-yield areas are covered before rarely-tested corners. As mock scores come in, the weighting is recalculated rather than fixed at the start.
Prerequisites
- ✦SSLC-standard schooling is the level the paper is set at.
- ✦Reading comfort in Tamil, since the Tamil section is 100 of the 200 questions.
- ✦Check the current official notification for eligibility, age limits and required qualifications.
Target Audience
- School-leavers and SSLC/HSC-level candidates attempting Group 4 for the first time.
- Graduates taking Group 4 as an early government-job attempt.
- VAO aspirants preparing within the same Group 4 scheme.
- Repeat attempters who need targeted weak-area work rather than a full restart.
- Working candidates who need a realistic schedule around a job.
Learning Outcomes
- 1Know the Group 4 paper structure and how the three parts contribute to the total.
- 2Build Tamil-section accuracy, since it is the largest single block of questions.
- 3Cover SSLC-standard General Studies systematically across history, geography, polity, economy and science.
- 4Solve Aptitude and Mental Ability questions reliably under time pressure.
- 5Convert mock-test results into a focused revision list rather than a score.
